The idea of a brewery at Sligachan was first talked about in 1993.

In early 2004 the idea became reality, culminated  by the fact a brewer became available on Skye, so the development of the old public bar at Sligachan started, which at this time was being used for storage.

The first step was to make alterations to other parts of the hotel to make space available for the items which where being stored in the old semi derelict bar. 

Then renovate the room, replace the windows and doors, rewire and re-plumb, and fit new flooring.

The brewing equipment originally came from the Physician and Firkin Edinburgh via AB Bottling UK, and it was delivered by Mckinnons Transports, Crossals, Skye.

The equipment was installed during July and August, and  the brewery was born on September the 10th 2004
